Privacy policy

This policy explains what happens to information about you when you visit this website, and how company information taken from the Government Gazette is handled. It is written to meet the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA) and, because the operator is based in Spain, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

1. Who is responsible

The responsible party (controller) is Alberto R., Travessera de Gràcia 20, 08024 Barcelona, Spain. Contact: [email protected].

2. What is collected when you browse

The web server records technical data needed to deliver pages and keep the service secure: IP address, date and time, page requested, browser type and referring page. These logs are kept for a short period and are not used to build profiles. The site has no user accounts and no contact forms.

3. Cookies and local storage

The site itself stores only your light/dark display preference in your browser's local storage. It sets no tracking cookies of its own. Third-party cookies may be set by the advertising service described below.

4. Advertising: Google AdSense

Pages may show advertisements served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies and similar identifiers to serve ads, measure their performance and, where permitted, personalise them based on your previous visits to this and other websites. Google is an independent controller of that processing. You can read how Google uses information from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/ads and switch off personalised advertising at adssettings.google.com. You can also block or delete these cookies in your browser settings at any time; the register works without them.

5. Maps and fonts

Maps are drawn with tiles from OpenStreetMap and fonts are loaded from Google Fonts; your browser contacts those providers directly and they receive your IP address.

6. Company information from the Gazette

The register lists juristic persons — companies and close corporations — exactly as they appear in notices that the law requires to be published in the Government Gazette. POPIA also protects information about juristic persons; we process it because it comes from a public record (section 12(2)(a)) and in the legitimate interest of creditors and the public in knowing which companies are in liquidation or business rescue (section 11(1)(f); GDPR article 6(1)(f)). Natural persons who are sequestrated are deliberately excluded, and no identity numbers of individuals are stored.

7. Your rights

You may ask for access to, correction of or deletion of information about you, and you may object to processing. Write to [email protected]; see also the contact page for corrections to company entries.

If you are not satisfied with our answer you may complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa), inforegulator.org.za. As the operator is established in Spain, you may also contact the Spanish data protection authority, the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos (AEPD), aepd.es.

8. Changes

This policy may be updated when the service changes. The current version is always the one published on this page.
